COVID 19 Update 05/24/21
Our lobby is open!
Please come on in for check in and check out. We are seeing patients in exam rooms, however due to the small size of these rooms and since physical distancing is difficult, we prefer 1 person per appointment.
Let us know if you have had a family member in your household that has been sick, and as always if you are sick, please stay home and have a friend or trusted family member bring in your pet if it is sick. Routine appointments can be scheduled to a later date.
We are happy to still offer curbside stay appointments for those who may not be ready to join us in the lobby just yet. Please give us a call upon arrival @850-893-3047 or text us @850-810-0811 to specify that you would like to stay in your vehicle.
We will still text you a link before your appointment with any paperwork that needs to be completed. This is required to be completed before your appointment time. We have missed seeing your smiling faces!
For prescription medications, heartworm or flea/tick control refills or prescription diets, please call in advance to request these items. Consider prioritizing our secure online VetSource pharmacy and our PetDesk app to request food and medications.

COVID 19 Update 01/15/21
We are returning to strict curbside service. Please stay in your vehicle while we examine your pet. Please be patient, as this will extend our appointment times.
Due to the increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 🦠 and its’ variants, BAH is taking additional precautionary measures to keep our staff, patients, clients and our community safe, and to minimize potential exposure to the corona virus as much as possible.
All appointments, hospital admissions, drop off/outpatient appointments, surgeries, boarding, baths, nail trims, medication pick-up and grooms will be picked up from your vehicle and transported into the hospital by one of our team members.
Check in procedure:
🐾 Please text (850-810-0811) or call (850-893-3047) us when you arrive, and wait in your car.
🐾 We will send any needed forms to your phone for you to submit electronically.
🐾 Be sure to have your pet in the backseat or hatch.
A team member will come to your car to pick up or return your pet, or deliver medications.
🐾 Please be sure you are wearing a mask. 😷
🐾 We will use our own leashes to bring your pet inside.
🐾 Cats must be in a carrier, dogs must be on secure leashes.
🐾 A team member will call you with any needed treatment protocol, diagnosis, instructions and for payment.

COVID 19 Update 6/15/2020
We are adjusting our curbside services and hours.
As of Mon, June 15, scheduled appointments (when you wait while the doctor sees your pet) will be escorted inside and into an exam room. Due to CDC social distancing guidelines and crowd size limits, we can only allow a few people into the hospital at a time.
We are requesting a limit to the number of people who accompany your pet into the exam room in order to keep our clients, the doctors and staff as safe as possible. Exam rooms are thoroughly disinfected between appointments and given time by direct contact to let the disinfectants work their magic. Please be patient, as this will extend our appointment times.
Please wear a bandana or face mask inside, if you do not have one we can provide one. Hand Sanitizer is available in each room and at the front desk.
Anyone who does not feel safe with this protocol or is ill (if you are ill with COVID -19, please stay home) is welcome to continue to stay in their vehicle while we examine your pet. Let us know your preference when you call for an appointment.
Curbside will continue for all drop off/outpatient appointments, surgeries, boarding, baths, nail trims, medication pick-up and grooms. Tell us which vehicle you are in and we will come out to retrieve or deliver your pet or medications.

I laughed when a kennel technician turned to me and asked "Which breed of car are they in?" Yes, we all learned some different car breeds!

To help ensure our clients and staff stay safe, we are adjusting our hours of operation. Effective Monday, May 25, we will be open Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. (We will be closed Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.) At this time, Saturday hours will remain the same. We are continually tracking new developments and updates, following the latest CDC protocols and adopting new measures to minimize potential exposure to the corona virus as much as possible. Thank you to all who have embraced our curbside "concierge" protocol! Thank you for wearing a mask or bandana when interacting with our team, and for your continued trust, loyalty, patience and support during these difficult times!

If you are exhibiting any respiratory symptoms including fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or have had contact with someone who may have COVID-19, please have a trusted friend or family member bring your pet to us for treatment.

A client care specialist will take your information, check you in and inform one of our team members you are here. We will send any needed forms to your phone for you to submit electronically. Be sure to let us know which vehicle you are in!

One of our team members will meet you by your vehicle to escort your pet into the hospital. All cats must be in carriers and dogs should be in the backseat or hatch area, and must be leashed for transport into the hospital for treatment.

A veterinarian will perform a comprehensive physical exam. We will call you with the doctor's exam findings and recommendations, and discuss/complete any needed diagnostics, treatments or concerns you may have.

We will then bring your pet back to you, along with any needed medications and instructions, and place them in your vehicle.

At the conclusion of the visit, call us (850-893-3047) to pay via credit/debit card or Care Credit over the phone, and we will email you a receipt. We strongly discourage cash payments at this time.

These appointments may take a bit longer than our traditional appointments, so if your schedule does not allow for this, ask about the possibility of a drop off appointment instead.
Pets need love and care no matter what is going on in the world, and we are remaining open at this time to serve you and your furry family members.

Pick of the Litter Documentary!
Please join us to for the final showing of this very special film: "Pick of the Litter"! This wonderful documentary follows 5 puppies and their incredible journey to become guide dogs for the blind. Playing at All Saints Cinema in the Tallahassee AMTRAK station (918 Railroad Av.), Sunday, October 28 at 2:30 PM. We would love to see you there!

Evacuating with Pets
Don't loose your pets while traveling or evacuating from a hurricane.
No Animal Left Behind
As we all watch warily as TS Michael heads into the Gulf of Mexico, remember to activate your pet disaster plan now. Take photos of your pets now, check that they have ID tags, make sure their microchip information is up to date. Plan on an evacuation route, and a place to stay that allows pets. Gather food, water, kennels, leashes, medical information and medications and pack items in plastic bags to protect from water. Don't forget your flea, tick and heartworm prevention! Label your carriers with your name and phone number, and make a list of emergency contact numbers. If you need to evacuate, please drive carefully and stay safe everyone!
National Black Dog Day
October 1st is National Black Dog Day! “Black Dog Syndrome” is when, for whatever reason, black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of their lighter-colored counterparts. Black dogs are sometimes associated with danger or aggression, they are harder to photograph, they can easily blend into the shadows in a kennel and won’t attract as much attention. But we know ‘Black dogs are filled with light’, and will love you just as much as any other dog!

Found kitten! Found on Hannary Circle, sweet girl around 7-8 weeks old. She is wearing a pink collar with a pink bow and bell. Very friendly, keeps making biscuits! Please call if you recognize her, 850-893-3047.

Thanksgiving Holiday Hours
Holiday hours for Thanksgiving: We will be open this Wednesday, 11/22 from 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM, and closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday and Friday, 11/23 and 11/24. Dr Debbie Justice with the wolf pups!
A litter of four red wolf puppies were born April 21 at the Tallahassee Museum! There are 3 males and 1 female in the litter. This is the second litter for the mom, who was transfered to Tallahassee from Tennessee in January.
Red wolves are a critically endangered species. There are now estimated to be less than 50 red wolves left in the wild. The Tallahassee Museum houses two pairs of adult red wolves at the facility.

Updated News: Emergency Preparedness
Update: 9/1/2016
In anticipation of high winds, Leon County and the City of Tallahassee announce the opening of a general population and pet-accessible shelter at 3 p.m at Lawton Chiles High School, 7200 Lawton Chiles Lane. The shelter will be operated by the American Red Cross.
As a pet-accessible shelter, the location can accommodate domestic pets. Shelterees who must bring exotic pets should do so in necessary enclosures with a secure lid. Also, please bring collars, leashes, veterinary records, food, and medications.

Dr. Justice and the Cougar Cubs:
Dr. Justice went to the Tallahassee Museum to vaccinate (and play with!) a pair of 6 month old cougar cubs, Remy and Rory. The two cubs are sisters, and were born in captivity just outside of Texas. Right now they weigh around 30 pounds apiece, but will grow fast.
They both got their very important Rabies vaccinations, as well as their Feline Leukemia vaccines. Both were bright, alert, responsive and very playful! Remy previously had a spiral fracture to one leg that has been repaired, the pins will be removed in a few weeks.
The cougar cubs are new additions to the Tallahassee Museum, and will be permanent residents.

Christmas Party 2015:
Our Christmas Party this year was creating a painting at Painting with a Twist. See the gallery for more of our efforts. We had a great time and actually managed to keep ourselves mostly paint-free!
